1. General
Who provides the service and what counts as acceptanceI am a Dota 2 coach known as Common Sense. The Service is run by Common Sense Coaching LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company (USA), and I provide the services on its behalf (hereinafter — "I", "the Coach", "the Provider"). This document is the agreement between you and me.
The agreement is addressed to any individual (hereinafter — "you", "the User"). Signing in through Steam and paying for my services mean full and unconditional acceptance of these terms.
There is no age check at the door: you can train with me at any age. If you are under 18, I take it that your parent or legal guardian knows about it and agrees — and a parent can ask me to delete a lesson recording at any time.
The Service is my website commonsensedota.com, including its private part: an original collection of Dota 2 video breakdowns and a catalog of learning materials (the "Knowledge Base").
2. What I provide
Student status, diagnostic, single lesson, lesson courseInformation and consulting services for learning Dota 2:
- Student status (a subscription to the Knowledge Base): access to all breakdowns, including breakdowns above 8500 MMR. The paid period is 30 or 90 days, your choice.
- A diagnostic — a pass through your replay with a screen recording and a list of the mistakes I found. I give every mistake a short note — why it is a mistake and how to do it right; questions after delivery get a brief reply in messages, an in-depth breakdown is what lessons are for.
- A single lesson — a live replay breakdown or a 1×1 game with a breakdown.
- The 4-lesson course: a diagnostic before the first lesson and 4 lessons.
- The 10-lesson course: a diagnostic before the first lesson, a second one after the fifth, and 10 lessons.
- A lesson and a course come with a personal student dashboard: the takeaways of every lesson, homework, lesson recordings and a progress tracker. With the diagnostic, a single lesson and the courses I add student status for the period stated in the "Prices" block on the home page.
Exact prices are in the "Prices" block on the home page.
I do not guarantee in-game results. I hand over knowledge, tools and algorithms. MMR growth and rank climbing depend on your practice and are not the subject of the service.
3. Payment
Card through Stripe · receipts · renewal and cancellationPayment is made in US dollars by card through Stripe. Prices are shown without applicable taxes — they are added at checkout. The moment of payment is the moment you accept these terms.
Stripe takes the payment and sends you the receipt for it, to the email address you enter at checkout. Your card details go to Stripe only — I never see them.
Student status paid by card renews automatically. By paying for it you agree to a recurring charge: the amount equals the price of the term you chose — $10 for 30 days, $21 for 90 days — and it repeats every such term until you cancel the renewal. Prices are in the "Become a student" block on the home page; the charge terms are shown in the payment window before you confirm.
Cancelling takes one click and can be done any time: in your profile, the "Manage payment" button — it opens your own Stripe billing portal, and cancelling there is one click. You do not need to call me or write to me for it, and I will not try to keep you. After cancelling, your access runs to the end of the period you already paid for, and the next charge does not happen.
I can change the price of student status only for future charges and only after telling you in advance. I cannot quietly charge more than you confirmed.
Free features. A new user who has signed in through Steam gets, free and once each: one closed breakdown of your choice — access to it stays with you afterwards — and one group lesson with full participation: voice in the room, chat and one question for the breakdown. No bank card is needed, no payment details are collected and there are no automatic charges. Free features open on accounts with a match history (checked against public game statistics) and are given once per account; I may change what is in them or stop offering them for the future at any time.
Charge reminders, payment receipts and renewal management live in your Stripe billing portal — open it with "Manage payment" in your profile. Stripe sends the receipts to the address you gave at checkout; I send no emails myself.
4. How the service is delivered
Access, calendar, lesson recording, course termsI open student status access on your account after the payment is confirmed — usually the same day. If it has not appeared within 24 hours, write to me — contacts are in the footer of the home page.
You pick the training time yourself in the booking calendar; it shows free slots in your time zone. Lessons run in Discord and last up to 60 minutes.
Whether the lesson is recorded is your call, and all three options work. "Video recording and breakdown" — the lesson video is kept, you get the takeaways, the homework, timecodes and clips of the key moments, and an anonymised breakdown goes into the Knowledge Base. "Takeaways only" — no video is kept, the sound turns into text right away, and the takeaways and homework stay in your dashboard and go nowhere else. "Record nothing" — no video and no takeaways, only the live conversation is left. You make the choice in the request or in your dashboard and can change it any time; without a recording the lessons run just the same, there are simply no materials afterwards.
The recording and everything made from it — breakdowns, clips, takeaways — belong to me. I may publish them at my discretion (in the Knowledge Base, on my YouTube channel, in clips and in promoting the Service) only if you chose "video recording and breakdown". With "takeaways only" nothing is published: the materials stay in your dashboard. Your in-game nickname is visible on a published recording; your personal data is never disclosed. All of this applies to lessons and to the diagnostic alike.
Fragments of a lesson may be used as learning material of the Service: your site nickname and account ID are not shown in them, but I do not promise full anonymity — the in-game nickname is visible on screen, and a name may be spoken aloud. Storage periods and the deletion procedure are in the Privacy Policy.
To cancel or reschedule a lesson, give me at least 12 hours' notice before the start. The first no-show without notice I forgive: the lesson stays yours. Every next no-show without notice forfeits that lesson — it is not rescheduled and not refunded in money. It is not counted as held: I did not hold it.
Courses are valid: 4 lessons — 90 days; 10 lessons — 180 days. The period counts not from the payment date but from the day of your first held lesson. Until the first lesson is held, the course clock does not run: a bought but not started course does not expire. In case of force majeure I will extend the period by agreement.
Coach at Battle Cup — an evening for a ready team of five: I sit in a Discord voice channel, run the draft, call things out through the Battle Cup games and break them down in between. The captain books it; he pays for the whole team or the players chip in — the Saturday is locked in once the payment has arrived in full, within 24 hours of the agreement, otherwise the next team takes that Saturday; the Saturday counts as booked once it is paid. Every player the captain names to me by their site nickname gets student status for 30 days. The Battle Cup ticket or Dota Plus is on each player. The evening is recorded as a whole: the takeaways from the games and the answers to the questions asked are published in the players' dashboards, and the recording is there too. The captain booking means every player on the team consents to the recording. The service counts as delivered by the fact that the evening took place at the agreed time.
Student status counts as delivered from the moment access is open. A lesson counts as held once its takeaways and homework are published in your dashboard. If you chose a lesson without a recording, there are no takeaways and no homework — such a lesson counts as held by the fact that it took place at the agreed time. The diagnostic counts as delivered once the recording of the pass and the mistake list are published in the dashboard.
The fact that you did not sign in to the dashboard and did not open the materials does not affect the fact that the service was provided: the service is provided at the moment of publication.
5. Refunds
Full rules on a separate pageBefore the service has started you may withdraw — I will refund the full price.
Student status is not refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law or is expressly provided by the Refund Policy: it is digital content, access opens immediately and in full. Courses are recalculated by the number of lessons held. A match breakdown is not refundable after the video is delivered.
Cancelling a renewal and getting a refund are different things. Cancelling stops future charges, but it does not refund a paid period that has already started: the access simply runs to the end.
Coach at Battle Cup: cancel at least 24 hours before the start — a full refund; the team or part of it does not show up on Saturday — no refund; I could not run the evening — a full refund.
All refund terms, thresholds and calculation examples are in the Refund Policy. That is the governing document on refunds.
6. Account and acceptable use
Access is not shared, materials are not redistributedI do not ask for your year of birth, and you can train with me at any age. What happens to the recording of a one-on-one lesson is your call — the three options are in section 4, and I publish only what you chose to have published. A group lesson is recorded as a whole — the recording goes into the library for everyone who has access to lessons, and one participant cannot be subtracted from a shared recording.
The account is personal; giving access to third parties is prohibited. The Service applies technical request limits to protect against shared use.
Copying, recording and distributing the private materials of the Service is prohibited. All materials are my intellectual property.
If these rules are violated, I may block the account without a refund for the current period.
7. Personal data
Short version — and a link to the policyWhat I process and why is in the Privacy Policy. In short: only what is needed for login and for the Service to work. I share it only with the technical services without which the Service does not run (they are listed in the Policy; some of them are outside the United States), and where the law requires it.
8. Liability and other terms
As is, changes to the terms, disputesThe Service is provided "as is"; short technical interruptions are not grounds for recalculation.
In-game results are not guaranteed: I hand over knowledge and break down mistakes, and your rank depends on your practice. No implied warranties are given — not fitness for a particular purpose, not uninterrupted operation.
My liability in any dispute is limited to the amount you paid for the Service over the last 3 months. Indirect losses — lost time, rating, income — are not compensated.
I may stop working with a student at my discretion — with a refund for everything not delivered, per the Refund Policy. If the Service shuts down entirely, I refund the unused part of what you paid.
Events outside reasonable control (force majeure) suspend my obligations for as long as they last.
I may change these terms by publishing a new version on this page. Paid services are governed by the version in force at the moment of payment.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New Mexico, USA. We settle disputes by talking first: write to me and I answer within 24 hours. If that does not work, the dispute is heard in the state of New Mexico.
